Mt Rothwell Biodiversity Interpretation Centre

Located just outside Melbourne, Mt Rothwell spans 473 hectares as Victoria’s second-largest feral predator‑free sanctuary. It’s home to around 80% of the mainland’s Eastern Barred Bandicoot population and hosts leading breeding programs for the Eastern Quoll and Southern Brush‑Tailed Rock‑Wallaby—a living lab for threatened species recovery.

  1. Predator-Free Sanctuary – A fully fenced, fox and feral cat–free area enables endangered species to thrive and supports robust conservation outcomes.

  2. Flagship Breeding Programs – Nationally significant breeding programs for quolls, bandicoots, and rock-wallabies operate on-site.

  3. Ecosystem Interpretation & Learning – The Biodiversity Interpretation Centre offers tours, conferences, and hands-on learning experiences focused on biodiversity and conservation.

  4. Proof-of-Concept for Landscape-Scale Conservation – Developed under our 7Cs Impact Framework, Mt Rothwell demonstrates how conservation, culture, and commerce can align for lasting impact.
