Urbanism That Co-Exists with Nature
Nature Positive Urbanism
“Backed by leaders recognised in Australia’s inaugural Green Power Players list, Sharp | Day brings together urban design, ecological planning, and regenerative investment to deliver futures that serve both people and planet.”
At Sharp | Day, we envision a future where natural and urban environments restore, regenerate, and reconnect. As a global consultancy, we strive to deliver places that balance the needs of both natural and human habitats—not as competing forces, but as partners in shaping the next era of urban life.
Formerly known as Sharps Track, Sharp | Day marks a bold evolution in purpose and practice. We bring together decades of experience in urban strategy, placemaking, and ecological design to help cities and communities meet the challenges of climate, liveability, and social cohesion—head-on and hands-open.
We call this Nature Positive Urbanism.
This approach isn’t just about reducing environmental harm. It’s about actively improving the ecological baseline—embedding biodiversity, circular economies, and landscape-led thinking into the DNA of our research, every plan, natural setting and future neighbourhood structure.
From regional frameworks to regeneration ventures, neighbourhood foundation, to new town visions, we work globally to shape inclusive, resilient, and biophilic places—places that nurture both people and planet.
Co-founded by biodiversity investor and ecological strategist Nigel Sharp, and urban designer and futurist, Mike Day. Sharp | Day builds on a legacy of regenerative land practice. With experience spanning impact capital, habitat stewardship, and agricultural reform, our work bridges the frontier between design and restoration.
As part of the ecosystem that includes Dragonfly Enviro Capital and Tiverton, we believe in turning ecological ambition into practical, investable change—from biodiversity corridors to carbon-positive neighbourhoods.
Backed by leaders recognised in Australia’s inaugural Green Power Players list, and the leading urban development agencies. Sharp | Day brings together urban design, ecological planning, and regenerative investment to deliver futures that serve both people and planet.

Who We Are
Sharp | Day is consultancy specialist shaping places where nature and neighbourhood co-exist in unison.
Founded by experienced urban strategists and designers, we work globally with governments, communities, and developers to design and deliver enduring, walkable environments that regenerate natural systems and foster human wellbeing.
We emerged from Sharps Track with a renewed purpose: to create Nature Positive Urbanism—a new kind of settlement shaping that actively restores biodiversity while delivering neighbourhoods that residents cherish.
We believe in the long view. In design that heals. In decisions that honour the land, the people, and the future.
Nigel Sharp is an Australian biodiversity impact investor, conservationist, and business innovator who has spent over 15 years building nature-first companies that deliver measurable benefits for both the environment and communities.
Starting his career in property and fund management—culminating in the ASX listing of a $300M property trust—Nigel returned to his passion for conservation in 2001. His work includes establishing Mt Rothwell, Victoria’s largest feral predator-free ecosystem, and developing The 7Cs Impact Framework, which balances commercial returns with outcomes for creatures, climate, corridors, community, and culture.
Today, Nigel leads several organisations dedicated to proving that profitability and biodiversity can grow together.
Mike Day was a co-founder of Roberts Day for 30 years and more recently a partner at HATCH | Urban Solutions, where he helped shape award-winning new towns and urban renewal projects across Australia, New Zealand, the UAE and Asia. Best known as the principal master planner of Ellenbrook New Town, Mike has also led the master planning of the CLARA High-Speed Rail and new city strategy business case for the Australian Federal Government, and has served on planning authority boards and industry committees in both Western Australia and Victoria. A Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Mike was also the 2018 recipient of the Place Leaders Asia Pacific Award for Leadership in Walkable Urbanism, and remains passionate about creating places that are more walkable, more liveable, and more nature-positive for future generations.
Our Ethos
At the heart of our practice is a conviction: urban settlements and nature must co-exist and co-evolve.
We embed ecology into the DNA of neighbourhood form—from the layout of streets and blocks to the networks of green-blue infrastructure that sustain life.
We draw on timeless urban principles—walkability, mixed use, quality public realm quality—and bring them into conversation with landscape systems, native species, and climate logic.
The result? Places that are low-carbon, human-scaled, and biodiversity-rich by design.
Positioning Sharp | Day not just as an advisory consultancy, but as part of a larger “climate-forward movement”—one that connects:
Landscape ecology
Financial innovation
Timeless design principles
And urban form that regenerates natural capital
Our Work
At Sharp | Day, we work across scales and geographies to create places that are ecologically regenerative, socially inclusive, and economically resilient. Our projects range from new neighbourhoods and greenfield townships to regional strategies and transformative urban frameworks.
What unites them is a commitment to walkability, biodiversity integration, and long-term place stewardship.
We don't build projects. We build living systems of place.
Our Services
At Sharp | Day, our services bridge design, ecology, and strategy to shape places where people and nature thrive. We work across urban design, ecological planning, and regenerative investment, delivering solutions that move beyond short-term outcomes to create enduring value. From reimagining urban systems to advancing biodiversity, we bring research, creativity, and collaboration together to craft futures that are resilient, inclusive, and grounded in nurturing the planet.

We believe the future of cities depends on their ability to regenerate nature while supporting resilient, walkable communities.
That’s why every Sharp | Day project is underpinned by our three-part approach:
Our Approach
Ecological Integration
We begin with the land. Its systems. Its memory.
We map and protect native habitats, restore biodiversity corridors, and embed green-blue infrastructure that does more than drain—it nurtures.
Our designs respect landscape logic: ridgelines, wetlands, tree cover, and soil health aren’t afterthoughts—they shape the settlement structure itself.
We design neighbourhoods—not subdivisions.
Neighbourhoods with walkable blocks, human-scaled streets, diverse housing, and active public spaces.
Inspired by proven timeless nature positive urbanism, design principles, and contemporary needs, our work connects people to daily life without dependence on the car—and connects streets to habitat without sealing them off.
Human-Scale Urbanism
Resilient Futures
Climate readiness, economic diversity, and social inclusion guide our decisions.
We model carbon impacts. We think in generational timeframes. And we work with clients to embed affordability, circular economies, and place-led stewardship from the outset.
Whether designing for growth or regeneration, we ask: Can this setting sustain life—for all life—for generations?
Thinking Beyond the Brief
Sharp | Day is more than a design studio—we’re a platform for advancing the future of urban settlements and nature.
This is where we share what we’re learning, questioning, and championing—from new planning models to global case studies, biodiversity research to walkability metrics.
